Calderon House is a project by the practice of Sommet Asociados, located in the prestigious Santa Cruz suburb of Uruba Hills in Bolivia, a verdant region of great natural beauty. The residential area in which the home is located is not identified by a specific style of architecture and as such C House, which is composed the two geometric volumes of a base with a cantilevered upper level, stands out in the pure simplicity of its contemporary form.

With a facade of stone and wood, a dialogue is maintained with the more traditional homes of the neighbourhood. The upper level of the home accommodates the private spaces with the ground level for the public spaces which communicate with the garden and pool. Beyond the pool and barbeque space are service areas with an additional bedroom and poolside facilities, kept separate from the main house.

The bright clean interiors are flooded with natural daylight, enhanced by the series of glassed in courtyards with native plants, a touch of nature to contrast with the high shine of the sleek kitchen units and the polished floors. A contemporary ‘floating’ staircase leads to the upper level where a warm family room separates the rooms of the children and the adults. This space enjoys maximum daylight and exists as a positive core of the home. A comfortable luxurious family home, well-designed in a series of diverse materials with a strong functional element to be enjoyed by all members of the family.
