Presenting a geometric monolithic face to the world at large, C + P House designed by the practice of Goncalo das Neves Nunes, tells a whole different story from the interior. Located in the city of Lisbon, Portugal, the 322 sq.m. residence, which is constructed on a tiered site, claims a constant dialogue with its surroundings through a series of strategically placed balconies, terraces and courtyards hidden behind the Travertine stone dressed facade.

The main Western entrance is through a deeply recessed area, chosen for reasons of climate and orientation, and leads into an interior courtyard and directly to the ground level living spaces and to the upper level private quarters. An additional entrance is from the sub-basement on the lower tier, along with the garage and glassed in pool lounge. The walls of this level have been left in their raw concrete state which continues to the pool side area. Elsewhere in the residence, the harsh elements of stone and concrete have been softened by the intervention of the warmth of walnut, as used in the flooring and wall panels throughout the home.

With extensive transparencies on the rear of the structure, an ongoing interaction between the interior and exterior is maintained which imbues the space with a sense of harmony and balance, leading  to a greater enjoyment of the property for the inhabitants.
