As part of the 2012 Santorini Biennale of Arts, New York based designers, 24 degree Studio, created Daphne, an on-site installation in a tunnel and stairway leading to the ruins of Kasteli castle in Pyrgos, Santorini.

Hollow paper stars form the self supporting installation, which starts at the stairs and leads into the tunnel to form an enclosed space. At nightfall, concealed led lights create another perspective for the artwork as it reveals, and appears to become a part of ,the ancient walls beneath it.

The unpredictability of paper as a material adds interest to the piece, as it changes and ages according to usage and weather conditions, there is no knowing what the appearance of the artwork will be at the end of the exhibition. The installation is a homage to the past, the present and the future and the ability of each to coexist. The exhibition will continue until 30th September 2012.
