Interview

What is design for your life? What does design mean for you?

Design , is the definition, or better yet the refinement of every shape and every form that exists in our lives, the true and preliminary substance of every creation. Without the act of design, nothing exists, speaking in terms of human production and expression.

Please describe the changes in design in the last 20 years?

The evolution of technology and drawing means created new horizons in design expression and form. We have also entered the new era of environmental awareness and sustainability that will gradually make a strong impact in design and design consciousness.

Which designers/ architects have influenced your work the most?

From the Italian scene, I respect a lot  Carlo Scarpa, Paolo Piva, and Achille Castiglioni. At the same time, Ι  always have in mind the French modernists as the team of “Le Corbusier” with Charlotte Perriand  and the real diva Αndree Putman. I also admire Geoffrey Bawa for his sensibility. Μostly I am influenced by the way they think in order to create and sometimes  by the way they live. Lastly, I feel I have to mention the Greeks Pikionis, Zenetos and Konstantinidis for the strong impact they had οn the modern architectural thought.

What’s your perception about fashion and design magazines nowadays?

Ι believe that  such kind of magazines play a significant  role since they inform and in some cases they define the latest trends in design. Through their pages people come in touch with everything new or every breakthrough that takes place all over the world. However, I feel that we have to be rather selective when choosing our aesthetic influential sources, and we have to consciously filter the stimuli we receive according to our personal way of thinking and living.
