Architect Torsten Ottesjo finds himself inspired by nature, improvisation and simplicity so when his neighbor asked him to design a home for his hens, he approached the project with the same kind of creativity and enthusiasm as any other. The concept of a hen protecting her brood under her wing was a starting point for the design which developed from there without any formal plans.

The curved timber frame stands on a steel foundation which enables it to balance on the uneven ground of its rural site outside the city of Gothenburg. The rear of the henhouse is made up of wooden shingles in grading shades which resemble the feathers of a hen. Cute miniature wooden doors allow the owner to collect the eggs from the 12 or so hens that reside in this original henhouse.
