German architects, Mayer have recently completed a unique residential complex in downtown Berlin for property developers, Euroboden. Located on Johannesstrasse in the Mitte district, it is near  Museum Island and Friederichstrasse.

The seven storey block displays the familiar structured louvered facade of Meyer designs, this is continued throughout the common spaces of the stairwells and elevators as well as the interiors of the residences. The concept is the reinvention of the multi-unit residence with inner courtyard garden, familiar to the Berliner lifestyle. The spacious apartments face South West and all have patios which overlook the well kept garden. Built on various levels, there are a variety of home options from an apartment to a townhouse, not to mentions the stunning penthouse apartments with their unrivalled views of the city. Unlike many apartment blocks, this one offers commercial spaces on the ground floor.

In addition to the innovative design, many ‘green’ features have been incorporated into the functionality of the structure. Natural light and ventilation are used to their full advantage and a rainwater collection and storage facility channels rainwater for non drinking household use.
