This contemporary single family home is located on a privileged site, an elevated green area within the urban fabric of Guimaraes, Portugal. Designed by Pitagoras Arquitectos, the two-level horizontal structure is faced with pigmented concrete and anthracite zinc.

Access is from the street via the suspended upper level of the ‘L’ shaped home, which contains the inward facing bedrooms to preserve the privacy of the occupants. The entire upper level overlooks a grassy courtyard area, a concept based on the courtyards of traditional Portuguese architecture.

A wooden staircase leads down to the living areas, all rooms with floor to ceiling windows, creating a natural continuation of the indoor and outdoor spaces. An indoor lap pool and covered pavilion under which to enjoy the panoramic views of the city and beyond.
