If and when the Ocean Avenue Proposal is to be accepted, is currently being strongly debated by the authorities and residents of Santa Monica. The waterfront skyline will be changed for ever if the go ahead is given to the pioneering project by the grand old man of architecture and design, Frank Gehry. As a resident of the town, this is a project particularly close to his heart and his first local project for 25 years.

The multi-purpose project consists of an impressive soaring white tower with the signature sculptural ‘wavy’ facade of Frank Gehry. The 22 floor structure is to accommodate a 125 room hotel and 22 rent controlled condominiums while the lower levels are for restaurants and retail spaces In addition, two pre-existing landmarked buildings on the site are to be preserved and incorporated seamlessly within the project.

Additional facilities include three levels of underground parking, a museum, rooftop observation deck and ample pedestrian walkways. If the proposal is accepted, the financial and social rewards for the community are considerable, 1,394 jobs, $72.4 million in income and $4 million in tax!
