Designed by Bauen Architects, the two family homes in Luque, Paraguay, is a single design project in line with the traditional way of living in harmony with the environment, embraced within the culture of Paraguay. The two identical homes which face each other over a stretch of grass and a triangular pool, were built into the hillside. Retaining walls of natural stone, which continues as a feature of the living space, ensures natural insulation of the sleeping quarters which are located along with the garages within the grassy mounds.

The spectacular double height picture windows at the front and rear of the homes terminate in an arched roof and is supported by thin steel rods. The curving shape of the roof mirrors that of the hills and protects the structure from the tropical heat of the region. Another example of contemporary architecture working hand in hand with the environment in a design which does not compromise the integrity of the area or that of the architect.
