A project of the Auckland based multi-disciplinary practice of Box Living, Parnell House represents an example of their vision of modular homes. As an alternative to conventional home building, Box Living offer a one-step service with a team of architects, builders and project managers who designed this mid-century modern style residence, based on the shape and size of the available site and the needs of the client.

The series of boxes which make up Parnell House are nestled in a woody area in Auckland, the dark timber cladding mirroring its surroundings. The lower level seamlessly opens out into the garden area and pool, a factor which is ideally suited to the local climate and the Kiwi lifestyle. The cantilevered upper level accommodates the private quarters and provides a shaded area over the terrace of the home. The interior design fuses a mid-century look with a contemporary vibe and a local color palette.

A Carbon-Zero Certified structure, the Parnell House incorporates plenty of eco-friendly features which aid significantly in its day-to-day operation and maintenance. This simple yet effective means of construction is extremely both, time-efficient and cost-effective, and can be configured into any available space with the exceptional feature of the possibility of expansion at a later date, allowing the home to grow along with the family!
