At the annual People’s Meeting, held on the island of Bornholm in Denmark, the authorities commissioned the architects Kristoffer Tejlgaard and Benny Jepson to design a space which would represent the topic and main theme of the event, ‘The Future of Housing and the recycling and reuse of materials.’ This geodesic 8m. high dome fulfills the specification in every way and differs entirely from the average prefabricated structure which is commonplace at similar events.

Constructed of steel, reclaimed wood and glass it incorporates random openings for illumination, screened with PVC film in much the same way as a greenhouse. The skeleton was 3D modeled, nodes laser cut and robot welded creating an interior area of 212 sq.m., ample space to contain a kitchen, bar, dining area and stage. Reclaimed wood was used to construct the tables and benches.

The great feature of this project is that it can be dismantled and rebuilt in a variety of forms and sizes, as there are no load bearing walls, windows can be set anywhere in order to suit the site and purpose, once more emphasizing the ‘green’ element and lack of wastage in this project.
