The Balearic islands of the archipelago of Spain are famed for their year round temperate climate with record hours of sunlight. This 443 m2 private residence by architect Pablo Serrano Elorduy has been designed to take advantage of its privileged location.

The contemporary design is inspired by the traditional Menorcan ‘tanca’ style of architecture. Positioned in the centre of the site, the deck and pool as well as its immediate environment is drawn into a dialogue with the structure. Vertical and horizontal wooden slats around the house are connected by sliding slats and pergolas providing a filter for the sun and a high degree of privacy for the occupants.

The stunning Mediterranean view is unhindered by the picture windows throughout the home, a space with perfect symmetry and openness flooded with natural daylight and ventilation. The design achieves all that it set out to be, a high end vacation home, offering year round comfort in a contemporary style with a nod to the traditions of this popular holiday island.
