Rammed Earth Modern House is a project undertaken by the practice of Brent Kendle. Located in the desert location of Paradise Valley, Arizona, it represents a home for a family who wish to escape the current trend of oversized homes in the ‘bigger is better’ boom and return to a more modest lifestyle in a smaller home.

The one level residence, while constructed from the basic material palette of earth, wood, stone and glass, exhibits an elegance through its horizontal lines, which hark back to the mid-century era. A cozy ranch like identity, the beautiful Douglas Fir wood ceilings add an element of warmth to the humble limestone floors. An abundance of natural light and desert views enter the space through the floor to ceiling glazing and light is spread throughout the home by the overhead skylights which run the length of the home.

A simple, understated sophistication where the owner’s collection of contemporary art makes a bold statement. Natural indoor/outdoor features on the sheltered terraces where the dynamic desert views can be enjoyed from the infinity pool, make this an enviable home surrounded by nature.
