Overlooking the town of Graz, Austria, Villa P is a design project of the Austrian based practice of LOVE Architecture + Urbanism. The client is a doctor who wished the home to incorporate a professional space as well as being a family residence. A further requirement of the brief was that the home would enjoy a panoramic view of the town in the valley below and have direct access to the garden. This provided a challenge for the architects due to the steep slope of the site but at the same time, created inspiration for the context of the design.

The dual function of the home works together and independently with the family residence on the upper level which enjoys superior views and the business space, together with utility rooms on the lower level. The spaces are further defined by having individual entrances, both connected to the outdoor spaces.

The stark white exterior of the structure communicates with the garden and pool by a series of wide timber steps, designed to be used as an outdoor seating and lounging space. The pool and timber deck adjoins the garage which together are positioned between the house and the street, offering a further aspect of privacy to the home.
