During the 60 years of his career, photographer, Irving Penn, (1917-2009) was world renown both in the commercial and artistic areas of photography. The exhibition, ‘Diverse Worlds’, currently running at the Moderna Museet, Malmo, celebrates the diversity of the work of this exceptional artist.

Irving Penn’s serial works, most of which he had gifted to the museum in 1995, in memory of his Swedish born wife, make up the major part of the show. This is the first time that these pieces have been on display at this venue.

The work of this award winning artist is recognisable by his minimalist style, with attention to the most intricate detail and yet all executed in his familiar understated tone. He was especially appreciated by fashion publications and was retained by Vogue throughout the course of his varied career.

The exhibition, ‘Diverse Worlds’ is curated by Andreas Nilsson and John Peter Nilsson and can be viewed from June 16th to September 2nd, 2012.
