For the lovers of the movement of comic book pop art, an exciting upcoming event at the Kapopoulos Fine Arts Gallery in Golden Hall is not to be missed! The gallery is hosting the third solo exhibition in Greece by the world renowned artist Erro. Within the warm embrace of the gallery founded by Marina and Evangelos Kapopoulos, the Icelandic artist Erro has discovered ‘a home from home’. A welcoming environment through which he has come to meet, understand and share his friendship with the people he meets during his exhibitions in Greece.

The diverse subject matter of his pieces which he is presenting for the first time, includes a homage to Picasso and the Japanese Manga comics. Particularly close to his heart is a new series based on his old ideas and an alternative take on the beauty and violence of our planet, explicit in all of its vibrant colour, through the entertaining and often humorous content of this exhibition.

Born in 1932 as Gudmundur Gudmundsson, he left his native Iceland for Paris in the late 50s. to become part of the avant-garde scene of the time. As the artist Erro, he has attained global fame and holds the status of the best known living Icelandic artist in the world. His comic book characters become alive through their unlikely association. His juxtaposition of Disney characters with the most evil tyrants in history, Hitler and Saddam Hussein and the glamorous images of Marilyn Monroe selling ice cream to Chairman Mao are too crazy for words! He astounds us with his audacity and charms us with his humour and insight. On the artist himself, he does not find it easy to talk about his work, as once having completed a piece he moves on without a second thought, to a new subject.

Creative, provocative and controversial, his work exposes the inner child and unspoken thoughts and deeds from deep within his soul. Stunning, colourful, sexual and brutal, this is the reality of the comic book world as created through the imaginative talent of Erro! An exhibition held in Athens Golden Hall from 7th - 24th December; and we will certainly be there..!
