As an artist, Sander Wassink has a mission to open our eyes to the potential of beauty which exists in an object which is damaged, outmoded or simply rejected. His series of artworks, State of Transience, tracks the possibilities of regeneration of a discarded chair. Each stage evolves into a version of renewal in which different formats are applied as the chair goes through numerous changes.

The result of the process is irrelevant, the journey of discovery during the metamorphosis of an object being the concept of the series. We are taken back to the basics as each step is recorded in line with the developing train of thought of the creative mind. The whole concept is that of the re-creation of an object into a new form which preserves its energy of the past and delivers it into the present.
