The intricacy of these wire trees by artist, Kevin Iris is absolutely amazing. Constructed entirely of aluminum wire, no further supports or glue is involved in the creation of a surreal facsimile of a living tree complete with thousands of leaves and a complex root system!
Inspired by a fascination the artist had in the past for growing and training bonsai trees, his craft developed to such an extent over a period of twenty or so years, he no longer needs the actual tree but turns a rigid material into an almost organic form.
Thousands of hours and copious amounts of patience go into the execution of his trees which come in all shapes and sizes. A tree with a width of 22” could take more than four months to complete. Each piece is different and each one produces a variety of emotional responses from the viewers of his unique art form but all agree on one thing and that is his outstanding level of craftsmanship.
