Amba Molly wishes to tell stories with the objects she makes in order to create a feeling and let people read her stories through her pieces of art and design.

In her masters work ATLAS at Konstfack University of Arts Crafts and Design; Amba visualized the dialogue between the craft world and the industrial world in the context of corpus. Corpus is the term used in Sweden for silversmithing. By looking differently at the tradition of making corpus which has a long history and by juxtaposing this craft world to the industrial world, she created a visual and tactile landscape in which the aesthetics and materials of industrial and hand made objects are combined. These combinations of materials and processes will continue to give birth to “new corpus” presented on their own landscape.

For her BA work Mitose at Design Academy Eindhoven; Amba made a moulding system which is based on the human cell division. Starting with four products from two worlds, industrial and old-fashioned I used a plastic bottle, an old earthenware oil pitcher, a plastic Tupperware can and a hand-twisted earthenware can. By dividing the moulds systematically, 381,02 kilograms appeared. At four stages of division the products mix themselves increasingly further and gradually a new family with new DNA appears.

Amba is also part of De Intuitiefabriek (The Intuition Factory), a collective of 4 female designers who recently graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven. During their studies they noticed some similarities in their intuitive way of working and their use of material. As a collective, the members of De Intuitiefabriek now focus on tableware. By combining their individual work a new world appears.
