Oki Sato, a name synonymous with cult Japanese design house Nendo, is launching his first collection as the Design Director of K% at the Tortona Design Week in an exhibition titled "Black & Black".

"Black & Black" concentrates on perfecting the balance between structure and function in furniture, without the unnecessary distraction of new materials, technique and colour. It is an exploration of the fundamental elements of any object. As the name suggests, all the pieces in the collection are black.

The much anticipated "Black & Black" exhibition marks the first in a series of collections that will involve the collaboration of different designers with the exciting new venture K%. More importantly, it showcase the debut collection by cult Japanese studio Nendo – encompassing pieces for living spaces, as well as lighting and accessories.

K% was founded in 2011 by award-winning Japanese design studio Nendo and K Projects from Singapore. The K% aim is to make quality furniture that is not only great and creative in its design, but also accessible and affordable. Oki Sato – the talented and prolific co-founder of Nendo is the Design Director of K%.

The materials most commonly found in K% collections will be woods and metals. As K% collaborates with different designers, one can look forward to an extensive play on the variety of natural, great details and high-quality finishes. Collaborators for "Black & Black" are Singapore design firms Studio JuJu and Exit Design, that each contributed one item to the collection.
