The international competition, “Design for a Changing World”, organized by delood.com in collaberation with Casaviva and Living Divani, has reached its completion. Out of 138 entrants, 4 new groups are highlighted as being well worth talking about.

THE ‘MEANDROUS’ COFFEE TABLE

The Meandrous, an ancient greek symbol which has stood the test of time, has loaned its name and form to the glass coffee table of Kalliopi Vouzounara.

Through the ‘Meandrous’ the designer from Thessaloniki wants to bridge the past with the future of design. She chose this specific shape, which appears to move forward, in order to indicate continuous development.

‘TABLE LAMP’

Influenced by a combination of Art-Nouveau and industrial materials such as aluminium and steel in addition to materials which evoke memories of other periods like brass and walnut discretely married, are the elements which give a narrative dimension to the ‘Table Lamp.”

Furthermore, its creators, Ioannis and Christos Makris  from Thessaloniki are specialized in Industrial Design with a breath of art.

‘LIGHT (TIME) IN FRAME OF CONCRETE’

For Hungarian Tamas Morocz, this is his first award outside of Hungary for his structure, ‘Light Time Frame.’ Through this effort, the graduate in architecture from the University of Budapest, where he now teaches, wishes to freeze time and to capture the light. The comparison between the solid concrete and the light is the metaphorical juxtaposition of static and dynamic design.

‘CHEESECAKE’

From India, Swarup and Kushboo, 27 and 24 years old respectively, combine their knowledge of industrial design and fabrics to create an interactive game, the ‘Cheesecake.’  Taking their inspiration from the effects of fireworks together with the technique of Origami, has resulted in the ultra light components of ‘Cheesecake’  which  functions as a game that can be assembled in a variety of ways by a child.
