Having worked with major brands like Alessi, Moroso, Kartell, Flos, Puma and KLM, Wanders co-founded Moooi in 2001. Since then, the Dutch production house has featured work by Jurgen Bey, Jasper Morison, Bertjan Pot, Front, Maarten Baas, Jaime Hayon and Kiki van Eijk. A master communicator, Wanders still directs Moooi’s provocative add campaigns.

Stedelijk industrial design curator Ingeborg de Roode categorized the designer’s extensive body of work into thematic sections – craftsmanship, narrative, dialogue, surface, archetype, variation and scale. At the exhibition’s core, a black room reveals some of Wander’s more experimental and personal works – incidentally some of his most famous designs.

For this occasion, the Stedelijk teamed up with Frame to publish a Marcel Wanders: Pinned up monograph. Much more than an exhibition catalogue, the book includes essays by Marjan de Groot, Jennifer Hudson, Penny Sparke and Pietje Tegenbosch. The volume also features interviews conducted by Frame’s very own Robert Thiemann and Alexandra Onderwater.
