Once more, the innovative practice of Nendo have exerted a dynamic presence in the world of international design. We are accustomed to witnessing their contemporary designs which incorporate a strong element of functionality as demonstrated in the following collaborations presented at the 2013 Salone del Mobile in Milan.

‘Heel’ for Moroso is a black lacquered dining chair, a sleek shape inspired by the spike on a pair of stiletto heel shoes, the ultimate symbol of female sensuality. The front legs of the chair sit in a conventional position while the back legs are arched outward at an angle which forms the unique identity of the object.

‘Peg’ for Cappellini is a chair and table collection. The small compact shape of the chair is pared down to the minimum with a lower back support created by the extension of the back legs which extend upwards and become an intrinsic element of the seat. Inspired by the small cars, such as the Fiat 500 and Smart, which are seen squeezing through impossibly small spaces on the busy streets of Milan, this chair is ideal for any room where space is at a premium!

‘Nuno’ for Vibia is a series of light fittings, including suspended, table and floor based lamps. Formed through multiple layers of fine cloth affixed to a resin formed lampshade, the orient inspired lantern shapes create up to 24 degrees of shade when illuminated. Thanks to the intentional irregularity of the surfaces, a fascinating number of patterns of light and shade are created from these delicate lightweight  lamps.
