Studio Drift is presenting Nola at the Salone del Mobile 2015 from 14 until 19 April. Nola is made in collaboration with young Dutch label Buhtiq31 and will be part of the group exhibition ‘Brand New World Milano 2015 @ Dušan’.

Nola started as an experiment, playing with the endless possibilities combining colour and light in a spatial context. The result is a landscape of light captured in the emptiness of glass bells.Nola which means ‘bell’ in Latin, consists of mouth-blown pastel tinted pink, blue, yellow or green glass, combined with different coloured LED lights. The light in each Nola can be programmed individually and this results in endless variations and a unique color scheme per Nola.

Studio Drift designed Nola for the first collection of Dutch design label Buhtiq31. This collection is based on the theme 'skin' and is only sold through Buhtiq31's own online store. Studio Drift and Buhtiq31 are looking forward to show a spectacular landscape of light consisting of an installation of 60 Nola's at Salone del Mobile 2015.

Brand New World Milano 2015 @ Dušan. The exhibition ‘Brand New World’ shows ‘Design 2.0’ by bringing together eight international key studio’s, who epitomize the new concept of ‘designers, makers and entrepreneurs’ and define a truly brand new world of design. The exhibition takes place in the center of Milan and is curated by Vesna and Jovan Jelovac, founders of the Belgrade Design Week.

Studio Drift creates site-specific installations and interactive sculptures, by experimenting with existing and new relationships between nature, technology and mankind. At first glance the work often refers to familiar situations, whereas at second glance, all reference and control is questioned. This brings the viewer in an interesting position: it reshapes how we relate to our environment and stimulates new ways of thinking.

Studio Drift uses advanced technology and fine repetitive handwork. Each new work that is made, is aiming towards some kind of prediction of the future. It entails a battle within the limits of what is considered possible, then pushes it a little bit further every time. As research is an important part of that work process, Studio Drift continuously works together with scientists, university departments and research facilities, computer programmers
 and engineers.

Studio Drift is founded by Lonneke Gordijn (1980, Alkmaar) and Ralph Nauta (1978, Swindon). Since they graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2005, they have produced multi-disciplinary installations, sculptures, objects and films. Their work has been exhibited worldwide at leading museums, fairs and institutes and has won several competitions and awards.
