Presented at the Design Junction event in September 2013 was the most recent design project by the young Central Saint Martins graduates, Loukas Angelou and Vasso Asfi who founded the London based practice of STUDIOLAV. The Ombro Collection is a series of tables in perforated double surfaces of powder coated steel, they create a contrast of shapes which produce a false sense of movement.

This experimental design was born through reflections on the relationship between interiors and exteriors and what exists between the two. Customarily, doors, screens and shutters do not always produce an actual separation but rather a visual effect which could unite, as well as divide the two. It is this combination which resulted in the two tier element of this innovative, yet highly functional design.

The word Ombro refers to the French pre-cinema technique of shadowgraphy, which initiated a form of entertainment based on the illusion of movement!
