Boris Bally is the recipient for the 2006 Individual Achievement Award for the Visual Arts (A&BC/RI) presented by the Arts & Business Council of Rhode Island. Bally’s work has received two Rhode Island Council on the Arts Fellowships in Design and a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowship. His work is featured in numerous international exhibitions and publications. Public collections include London’s V&A Museum, Museum of Art & Design, Carnegie Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, Renwick Gallery and Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum.

"Through an ongoing exploration of common and radical materials I attempt to blur boundaries presented in art, craft and design by hybridizing them. Exploring novel techniques, formerly restricted to the craft world, often initiates new directions for exploration. Drawing upon skills learned as a Swiss apprentice goldsmith decades, I enjoy responding to technical challenges that emerge to produce useful pieces of integrity, often laced with political or emotional content.
Designing in "series," allows me to make calculated incremental changes with critical review after each completed prototype. Therefore, ‘finished’ pieces offer a temporary solution, leaving room for continued experimentation and further refinement. The ultimate goal is to maximize comfort (furniture), accessibility and optimizing formal design concerns."
