The DKNY Fall 2013 collection was recently presented against a backdrop of an illuminated New York skyline. Faithful followers, young and old applauded her collection of ready to wear urban focused garments. While the DKNY target group is the younger buyer, there were many familiar silhouettes from the 90s and a nostalgic retro, reinvented to please most age groups.
The sportswear aesthetic of the brand presented its sophisticated side in the leather paneling and trims and the zip fronted elongated bomber jackets and oversized coats worn with skinny pants and skirts. Dresses in body skimming lines, color blocking panels and animal prints, which feature strongly throughout the collection in sweater dresses, shoes and bags. Coats in black and camel and welcome flashes of shocking pink and red all made their appearance.
Although not a brand for evening wear, DK presented a version of wide leg pants with chiffon panel tops and long dramatic trains. As a footnote, next year marks the 25th anniversary of the popular, very wearable urban outfitter.
