The Prada Spring/Summer collection which was recently shown at Milan Fashion Week is ablaze with flowers and incorporates more than a passing reference to the Orient! The slightly quirky yet unmistakably Prada collection exhibits, according to Miuccia Prada, “taken all the elements that women can’t usually wear without being laughed at, and tried to make them more acceptable!”

With a basic colour palette of red, white and black, the collarless boxy jackets, slimline pencil skirts in satin and the mini skirts and short shorts all make an appearance adorned with flowers, some in plastic, appliqued silk and even wool. Angular shapes, kimono cross overs which can open to become a deep V neck are key forms which make dominate.

The footwear is a take on the Japanese Geisha Okobo style, towering platform sole and wedge heel sandals worn with a metallic zip up sock giving a boot like impression. General styling is a mix of sophistication and the ragged punk hairdo favoured by the Japanese stylists, all displayed with the expected Prada panache!
