Thamanyah, which means number eight in Arabic, is the brand of young Middle Eastern designer, Ahmed Abdel Rahman, a protege of Michelle Lamy and Rick Owens. His Fall/Winter 2012/2013 Collection is based on a modern reinterpretation of the traditional male garment of the Emirates, namely the Kandona.

An elegant fusion of tradition with contemporary design has produced a series of  jackets, pants and scarves in summer/winter wool gabardine, layered to produce a variety of options and looks. The softly tailored jackets have extra long sleeves which may be clasped at the back to form a sartorial cape-like garment. Cotton shirts and sleeveless tunics provide a day to evening wardrobe.

The colours are dark in the main with a contrasting sandy camel and the stark white cotton shirts. A young glamorous collection beautifully modelled by Aaron Matts and Phil W.

The brand identity, Logo and Typography of Thamanyah was created by Fikra. The photographs are by Asha Mines.
