The popular vacation destination of Cinque Terre, Liguria on the Italian Riviera is the location of this project by the Milan based architects A2BC. A farmhouse and barn on a hillside overlooking the sea were extended and remodeled to create a contemporary family home.

In homage to the rustic elegance of the original property, the stone facade of the structure was retained with the addition of black windows which allowed its integration into the rural surroundings. Although the interior has been given a new contemporary identity, certain original aspects, the exposed stonework, rafters and gabled roof, remind us of the home’s origins.

The white plastered interior creates a simple backdrop for the contemporary furnishings and minimalistic design features which provide the occupants with ease of maintenance and comfort in an extremely relaxing family vacation home.
