AS Aperitivo is an extension to the established AS restuarant in in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana and was completed in December of 2011. The structure sits on the site of the old garden pavilion of the restaurant and is destined to become a meeting place for evening drinks and relaxation.

This is the first interior design project for well known product designer, Nika Zupanc. A 150 year old tree provided the inspiration for the concrete structure with glass retractable walls for warmer days of the summer months. Cherry pendant lights suspended from metal branches over raised timber floors, chairs designed by Jamie Hayon and Antonio Cittero and the 5o’clock tables designed for Moooi in 2009 as well as  the pendant lights by Alvar Aalto are just a taste of the eclectic style of the space.

Lattices of timber and metal on the walls create wine racks and spirit cabinets which enhance the ambience of this intimate destination. The custom designed furniture, inspired by the Mediterranean cafe mode of the 60s and 70s, incorporates a pleated fabric trim which continues into the bathrooms where it adorns the sinks of artificial stone with bases and legs of reclaimed oak from the old family home of the owners of AS Aperitivo.
