The circus has come to town and it’s in Alimos! All the fun of this travelling show can be seen in the fantastic interior of the Biribildu souvlaki restaurant designed by the Thessaloniki based practice of Minas Kosmidis. The name, Biribildu is the Basque word for turning in a circle and symbols to this effect are evident at every turn!

Circus lights welcome the diner into the retro space, circus tent light shades and ornate metalwork sit beside white painted wooden structures for the functional elements of the space, kitchen, cash desk and bathroom and introduce a sense of the transitory. The signature colours of bright red and green bring back memories of the excitement of visiting the big top complete with clowns, jugglers and wild animals. In our more politically correct age we can no longer experience the excitement of the animal trainers but here is as close as one can get in the realistic graphics and bright lights. A wonderful contemporary carousel light installation, complete with cut out horses, guides the customer around the space and contrasts with the traditional decorative ceiling and the pretty blue Mediterranean tile print which covers the ventilation pipes.

A unique concept for a fast food diner in which the customer can be entertained by points of interest at every turn in this whimsically nostalgic space, another inspirational interior from the innovative design studio of Mr. Kosmidis!
