This apartment in Bulgaria is a design project completed in 2010 by the Bulgarian practice of Jovo Bozhinovski, interior designers well known for their innovative ideas in futuristic contemporary design. This project was undertaken for a client who requested ‘a cold and minimal atmosphere without the use of warm colors or materials.’

The compact space of 110 sq.m. on two levels comprises a combined kitchen, dining room and sitting room on the lower level with two bedrooms and bathrooms on the upper level. Using a material palette of fiberglass, lacquered MDF, technical stone, glass and metal, the designers achieved the modular feel of a space age living unit. The intimate lounge area with its rounded corners contains furniture specially designed for the space including the TV unit and the lamp above the sofa. Further bespoke items in the apartment include the dining table, kitchen, staircase railings and all bedroom furniture.

With the notable feature of the central staircase with its black fiberglass wall and the gleaming black and white surfaces throughout the space, the designers have succeeded in creating a unique, incomparable atmosphere in this very sleek futuristic duplex.
