Casa Albanese is a project of Asa Studio Albanese on the tiny Mediterranean island of Pantelleria, located between Sicily and Tunisia. The remains of a series of 10th century Arab structures, called Dammusi, were renovated and extended as a starting point for the project.

The architects have endeavored to maintain the heritage of the site by building with traditional methods of volcanic stone formations and creating sundry outdoor spaces to facilitate the climate and take advantage of the wonderful hillside views.

On the interior, arched doorways and partially whitened walls refer to the continuation of the past with the present. The structures with their thick walls, small windows and domed roofs resemble a small village which, combined with outdoor lounging areas and pool, provide a perfect holiday destination in this increasingly popular spot.
