‘Conceptual Minimalism’ is the name of an interior design project undertaken by the multidisciplinary design practice of Bllend Design Office. This exceptional project was entered for the Silver A’Design Award in Interior Spaces and Exhibition Design Category 2012-2013 and came away with first prize!

The Athens based practice approached the 100 sq.m. space with the intention of creating an interior which reflected the ethos of the studio in terms of environmental sensitivity and design aesthetics. The bright open space has the advantage of ample daylight but is limited in its irregularity of shape. As such, it was decided to maintain the sense of openness by defining the purpose of each area by the situating of the contemporary bespoke furniture groupings in order to encourage team interaction. A neutral color palette represents an empty canvas relieved by selected artworks and the variety of materials and textures used; lacquered wood, waxed oak veneers and concrete, all products used being sustainable and VOC free.

In order to maintain the minimum, uncluttered ambience of the studio, the storage space, essential for any functioning commercial space, was designed around the elevator shaft, allowing it to blend unobtrusively into the fringes of the space. The lighting elements are mainly LED in horizontal and vertical strip form which complement the streamlined space which as a whole makes a bold statement of individuality in line with the motto of the practice: ‘We are more than the sum of our parts....so is our environment.'
