Once just a historic spa town famous for its hot springs, the town of Bormio in the Italian Alps, is now a hub of activity, thanks to the nearby ski slopes. That is where the architectural practice of Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel & Partners, decided to build Eden Hotel, a luxurious asymmetrical arrangement of buildings that seem to emerge from their dramatic natural surroundings.

The hotel has been designed not only to provide every imaginable comfort to its selective guests but also, to merge with the beauty of the local landscape. Composed of four wood clad buildings linked by a series of transparent walkways and staircases, on the gently-shaped slope of the land, the design incorporates a system of passive heat technology and provides pedestrian access directly from the slopes.

Double height reinforced glass windows offer stunning mountain views from the comfort and warmth of the fireside seating areas. Natural materials are used throughout; sheepskin, leather, wood and stone in earthy tones, this way completing the contemporary rural style of this wonderful Alpine destination.
