Home 09 is a recent interior design project of the Dutch practice of i29 Interior Architects in the Villa Bloemendaal, a sustainable design by Paul de Ruiter Architects. This spacious two storey home of 489 sq.m. is located in Bloemendaal, one of the most sought after residential locations in Holland.

The area which is near to the Kennemer dunes, is a place rich in natural beauty and in order for the client to enjoy this wealth of nature the structure is faced in vast expanses of glazing, allowing the landscape to become part of the interior of the home itself. Following on from this concept, i29 kept solid walls to a minimum and retained a clean uncluttered environment with glass walls, maximizing the natural lighting of the public and private spaces of the home.

The choice of materials was also inspired by the rural setting, the humble pine wood panel was employed throughout to face walls, cabinets and beds as well as on a fireplace, creating a harmonious sense of coordination throughout the entire home. A polished concrete floor and steel accents complement the geometric shape of the dark furnishings and drapes against white walls. An exceptional contemporary design project which retains its own identity while enjoying an ongoing dialogue with the natural environment.
