Innocad Arkitektur emerged as the winner in the competition for the new design of Microsoft’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria. In collaboration with the Microsoft project team, they decided to intertwine work with play and create a 4500m2 dynamic and vibrant working environment, with the purpose of harmonizing its physical, virtual and social aspects.
Uber futuristic in its core, with sleek lines and well defined themed spaces, Microsoft headquarters look like an unconventional and eccentric playground. Different color patterns have been used for various parts, with features like an indoor slide and a green plant wall. An x ray image of a computer covers the back wall of the reception and artificial grass serves as the flooring of the coffee lounge. The colors used, appear to intensify each other and the quirky shapes add to the electric look of the space.
With the unconventional use of color being the major tool to create this vivid and visually delightful space, Microsoft headquarters are definitely a refreshing and joyful working environment, true to its brand’s character.
