Behind a walled compound in California’s Venice Beach, stands the holiday home of the well-known international photographer, Philip Dixon. The 6.000 sq.f. property was designed by Dixon and built to resemble a home and garden in Marrakesh, Morocco, a place he had visited during his travels.

The three bedroom home appears to have been taken directly out of the medina, its raw concrete with softly rounded edges has a sandy hue. The interior follows true to the style with the minimum of simple built in furniture and untreated wood. The decor is a mix of North African objects, woven mats and bowls together with carefully chosen antiques.

The outdoor space is landscaped with succulents and desert plants which thrive in the dry Californian climate. A heated swimming pool and a moat like stream which encircles the house cools the air of the small hidden courtyards within the compound of this very unique personal space of a well-travelled man.
