When thinking of an interior designer whose work never fails to fascinate through its consistency to produce gasps of admiration, the name that springs to mind is that of Maria Llado. Her portfolio contains some impressive clients in equally impressive locations, from the Giorgio Armani Showroom in Milan to exclusive homes in the Hamptons! She even caught the attention of Woody Allen, who filmed some scenes from Vicky Cristina Barcelona in the interior of a villa she had designed!

One of her most recent projects is Piso en Miguel Angel, Madrid, an interior of bright open spaces, expertly illuminated and curated in the sleek style of a gallery. Daring, colourful and eclectic, the list of adjectives which could describe this space is never ending, when one attempts to describe an interior which is beyond classification. She has succeeded in combining a range of classic looks and furniture styles, making a Louis XV chair appear to be quite at home alongside pieces from the 70s as well as her own creations.

With a unique mix of textures, fabrics and colours, a fun, playful yet elegant collection of spaces cover all the basics from the generous living rooms with a series of seating options through to the sumptuously furnished bedrooms. The interior invites exploration and discovery through its expertly curated collection of objets d’art. Noteworthy photographic and fine art adorn the walls, ruled over by the pink nude Black April by artist Philip Jones. What more can one say of the multicultural style of this exceptional designer, the interior simply speaks for itself!
