In a huge space at the 2013 Salone del Mobile, French architect Jean Nouvel presents us with a vision of what an office space should represent in today’s world. Commissioned by the parent company of Mobile, Cosmit, the  installation is an opportunity to examine the possibilities of a human friendly environment, a place in which we spend many of our working hours which should be as comfortable as our own homes.

The exhibition begins with four people from very different backgrounds, stylist Agnes B, photographer Elliott Erwitt, artist Michelangelo Pistoletto and writer and film director Alain Fleischer, each discussing the concept of office space. It continues into a number of office environments, each organised and furnished by using pieces from the Salone contributors rather than design specialists. Whether it is and industrial building, high-tech open plan or a work space within a domestic environment, each space is intended to encourage efficiency and provide inspiration.

Specific details such as specialist lighting suggestions and flexible spaces through the use of screens and sliding walls, all come together harmoniously, ready to accept the human element as an individual and not just as a faceless number. The exhibition also offeres the opportunity to  present some exceptional new pieces by Michele De Lucchi, Marc Newson, Philippe Starck and Ron Arad, who introduces us to the concept of colour changing furniture!
