Designed by the London studio of Haptic, the Quality Hotel Expo in Oslo is everything one would expect of a space inspired by the glorious Norwegian landscape. Trees and timber feature throughout the public areas of the hotel with the reception desk resembling a stack of pale timber.

The large open plan space of the entrance and dining area, seating 350, is personalised and defined by the tree lined walls and dividing screens of timber. Tom Stokke of Haptic states: ‘the challenge was to provide spaces that feel intimate whilst being easy to get to, flexible and compatible with large scale event logistics.’ The dining chairs chosen are a selection of designer classics which add a slightly quirky note in contrast with the classic comfort of the pale blue armchairs and couches of the public lounge.

The 300 guest rooms are havens of simplicity in muted colours and uncluttered lines. The whole space lives and breathes the cool understated Scandinavian air of calm efficiency and functionality.
