One of the up and coming hotspots for business opportunities and even as a holiday destination is Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The desire to become the coolest of the cool in terms of design, ambience and cuisine is apparent throughout the city, as establishments are making every effort to attract attention and provide the customers with something stimulating and inventive.

It was this ‘cool’ element which the client wished to capture within the interior of his restaurant, the Ramen Bar Suzuki. The project for the Japanese noodle bar was undertaken by the Vietnamese practice of 07 BEACH who based their concept directly on the literal theme of Tonkotsu Ramen or Pork Noodle Soup, the signature dish of the restaurant. Unusual, one might think but a huge mosaic of a dish of the delicious food makes for an attractive addition to the long narrow space of almost 155 sq.m. spread over two levels. And that was just the beginning, from then on it was noodles galore! Wall mounted wire sprayed white, the scrunched up metal shapes of the suspended lights and the curvy metal rail by the staircase all screamed noodles!

Now as we all know, noodle soup is served in a bowl, which the design of the rounded chairs and booths both bring to mind. As a second thought and in order to provide a more flexible system of seating as the noodle bowl designs take up lots of space, a series of modular couches were designed to fit around a number of round tables, facilitating the catering for groups of various sizes. This exciting and imaginative interior scheme was brought about with the help of local craftsmen and one sure can’t deny that it certainly expresses its very own brand of cool urban vibe!
