The Rica Hotel in Narvik, Norway, holds a prominent position in the local community as well as being the tallest structure in Northern Norway. The interior of this establishment was designed by Scenario Interiorarkitekter, to reflect both its status in the region and to provide a welcoming atmosphere for its diverse clientele, from skiers to businessmen, in addition to the residents of Narvik who frequented the all-day restaurant and sky bar with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and fjords.

It was essential that the public spaces exuded a warm ambience within a contemporary design aesthetic. A neutral color palette was chosen which gave the designers freedom to play with color and texture in their choice of furniture and soft furnishings. In order to break away from the bland monotony of many chains of luxury hotels, the furniture was selected from a range of international suppliers including, Moroso, Gervasoni, Podral, Moooi and Hay, just to mention a few.

As it was imperative for this contemporary hotel to contain a reference to the heritage of the region, a local artist was chosen to create the artwork for the public spaces and the 148 guest rooms and conference rooms.
