As part of a regeneration program in the Kings Cross area of London, a prime piece of real estate came on the market in the form of the redevelopment of the St Pancras Chambers by the Manhattan Loft Corporation into 52 units including three penthouses. It is one of these penthouses in the top three floors of the west tower of the Grade 1 listed building, also home to the Eurostar, which caught the eye of City businessman Arran Patel who appointed Thomas Grein of TG Studio to transform the standard space into an outstanding luxury residence.

Following the strict guidelines in the redesign of a building with this high level of historical status, the main structural elements were left in place, however where possible, the balustrading and dividing walls and staircases were replaced or redistributed. The master bedroom takes pride of place, overlooking the triple height living area from a balcony which may be closed off by means of an electrically operated curtain. The ensuite was enlarged and entirely remodeled in Portuguese travertine stone with a walk in shower, inset TV and double sink plus an additional walk in wardrobe finished in leather. The top level of the penthouse is accessed via a newly installed staircase leading directly from the entrance hall.

The public areas on the two lower floors are elegantly furnished spaces, perfect for entertaining at any level, all furnishings sourced from a bevy of top international designers including Poliform,  Zanotti, Poltrona Frau, Knoll and Lema plus the charming vintage pool table, a collector’s item owned by the client. Add a state of the art kitchen, two additional bedrooms, each with a dressing room and ensuite. The truly incredible ensuite bathrooms are located in the iconic gothic towers, triple height, and marble clad spaces, complete with chandeliers!

The entire penthouse is a dream in wood, stone and marble, furnished in a style of timeless elegance without a hint of ostentatiousness. The concept was realized through the close collaboration between the designer and the client, ensuring that the end result met their mutual expectations, down to the very finest detail.
