UXUS, the Dutch multidisciplinary design consultancy have completed the project of designing their new HQ in the historic Astoria building in the heart of Amsterdam. Centered on the concept of their design philosophy, ‘Brand Poetry’, they have created a series of exceptional open spaces which are conducive to imaginative thinking.
A solid wooden door set into a transparent wall allows openness and privacy and a modern staircase leading from an Art Nouveau lobby and the industrial feel of metallic furniture with the homely comfort of full length curtains and a carpeted floor emphasize the poetic balance of the contrasting elements.
The furniture and decor include pieces of the UXUS prop collection, ‘Not so fragile’ and their LIGHT-NESS lamps, the old and the new featuring the signature orange packing tape adding a colorful note to the neutral palette of the space. Historical aspects of the building have been preserved, the functioning vintage lift may be observed behind a glass wall in the kitchen and the magnificent wooden beamed apse and two original clocks adorn the meeting room of the company.
