Who can resist a fluted crystal goblet of that delightful effervescent amber liquid we have come to know as champagne? A drink we turn to, to accompany our times of joy and jubilation, the quintessential brand which is synonymous with celebration is of course Dom Perignon. This innovative, forward thinking organization has evolved from decades of dedicated individuals who constantly work towards raising the levels of quality within their product. Currently, the cap of creativity is being worn by Chef de Cave Richard Geoffrey, a talented man who is proud to cite the heritage of the grand master of his craft, Dom Pierre Perignon as a major source of inspiration.

It therefore comes as no surprise that when this iconic brand wished to launch their latest select vintage champagne, Dom Perignon Vintage Rose 2003, they selected Jeff Koons, a legend in his time, an artist whose meteoric rise to fame in the 1980s has placed him in the enviable position of being the best-selling live artist of our day, one of his pieces reached the unbelievable sum of $33 million in auction! This meeting of creative minds share a passion and a mission of taking innovation to its highest level, and then without pausing for breath, taking it even higher which applies both to the creation of a vintage champagne and a work of art. This mutual admiration and respect for freedom of thought through human interaction guided Jeff Koons to the adaptation of one of his favourite sculptures, Balloon Venus, as the base for the new concept of Vintage Rose 2003.

Vintage Rose 2003 is a blend of champagne in which the DNA of the vineyard and the heritage of the brand is firmly established, guaranteeing an element of history balanced with the emotive response which it evokes. In a similar way, Balloon Venus represents a symbol from a distant past, a voluptuous, feminine form, a warm symbol of fertility, procreation and continuity. The reflective magenta exterior of the container permits the beholder to physically become part of the experience, while the interior is a warm soft receptacle, a womb like space which cradles its precious cargo, a bottle of Vintage Rose 2003.

The Balloon Venus Vintage Rose 2003 is a luxury product, a limited edition available as a bespoke piece and individually gift boxed, available also for the Dom Perignon Vintage 2004. When you consider the $20.000 price tag, it may sound pretty steep but it may be a steal for the creation of a collector’s item touched by the hand of the magician of pop art, Jeff Koons, and just keep the price of $33 million in mind!!
