Scattered Crowd is a powerful art installation created by the multifaceted German artist, William Forsyth. First shown more than a decade ago, the piece composed of thousands of suspended balloons never fails to enthrall visitors.

William Forsyth refers to the work as being: ‘an air-borne landscape of relationship, of distance, of humans and emptiness, of coalescence and decisions’. An intrinsic aspect of the interactive element of the installation is the hypnotic music of Ekkehard Ehlers which enhances the multisensory experience of walking through the mass of translucent balloons.

Interaction with the inert shapes is encouraged by the artist who observes the human impulse translated into strengths and weaknesses through their instinctive reactions to the experience. A beautiful ethereal installation which is being shown in the vast exhibition space at the Bockenheimer Depot in Frankfurt during 2013.
