A meeting between pro skateboarder Gianfranco De Gennaro and Ezequiel Galasso, an artisan who specializes in the creation of stringed instruments, resulted in the founding of the Buenos Aires based company of Skate Guitars. As skateboarders accumulate a number of boards which are rejected as being too battered to use in the conventional way, the leftover material was in a suitable form to be recycled and incorporated into the crafting of electric guitars.

By using two defunct boards for the body and choosing accessories to match the original graphics of each board, a simple, functional instrument could be produced. Every guitar is personally hand made by Galasso and retains the character of the board from which it is made through the scars accumulated during its use. Although there appears to be great demand for these wonderful instruments, Galasso has no intention of speeding up the manufacturing method of the guitars but it intent on maintaining the high level of craftsmanship and originality for which each Skate Guitar is admired.
