Admired the world over for their amazing Avant Garde furniture designs which they create from the most unexpected materials sourced from equally unexpected places, are Fernando + Humberto Campana. The prestigious Brazilian duo now present ‘Fitas’, Portuguese for ‘stripe’, it consists of a collection of furniture, including a buffet, cabinet and table made from ribbon like strips of steel, bent and curved into rosette shapes which are set inside metallic frames.

Designed in silver grey and antique gold, the elegant pieces characterise the sense of decadent opulence and architectural form which we have come to expect from the Campana brothers. ,‘Fitas’ has been created as part of ‘Campana Brothers:Concepts’, a solo exhibition at the Friedman Benda Gallery in New York, an event which constitutes a milestone for the Campanas as their first solo exhibition in the US since they burst onto the global art and design scene in the late 90s as the first Brazilian artists to exhibit at the MoMA in New York.

The exhibition organisers attest that through ‘Concepts’ the artists will announce a definitive turning point in their career and their approach to their art in general with a looser, more experimental direction. It appears that surprises are in store for visitors to this long awaited event which runs from June 5th to July 3rd 2013.
